Intermingled Layers of Experience
We each have numerous intermingled layers of experience and learning that we’ve acquired throughout our time in the universe. These intermingled layers can be referred to or seen as interwoven ascending spirals of spiritual growth.
We are a Facet of Humankind
As such, every person becomes like a facet of a diamond — a miniature reflection of the ongoing progression of humankind, our earthly soul group. For we are all linked, growing together, as we progress individually.
Individual Spirals of Growth, Slowed
The level of growth and maturity of any spiral can be slowed or fossilized-in-time by a traumatic event; leaving that particular thread of growth in an embryonic state. We may choose to hide this lesser characteristic, even from our self, thus hindering our advancement in this and future lifetimes.
Past Life Baggage
These traumatic events can create emotional and spiritual baggage that often continue to inhibit us, if not properly dealt with. This is sometimes referred to as past life baggage, although we can accumulate it within this life, too. (Intuitive Readings from Our Guides’ Point of View blogpost discusses baggage in more detail.)
Other Areas Blossom
During this same period, other areas of our life will have continued to grow, ripened and blossomed into highly developed, evolved states of maturity. We may rely heavily on these areas of experience in our life, making them our defining, possibly aspiring, characteristics.
We Embody a Spectrum of Development
Our life embodies a combined spectrum of development, from that of an infant to one of an adult. Thus, we are in many different stages of growth at any moment in our life.
These blended combined spirals of spiritual growth, reflect our overall maturity and balance in our life.
With this in mind, someone who is considered extremely mature may be that way in certain areas and quite immature and childlike in others.
Turbulent Period of Transition
The period of transition from our childhood through adulthood can be physically, emotionally, spiritually and socially turbulent, especially during adolescence (teenage years). This phase of life is dominated by our Lesser Self.
For our purposes, the Lesser Self is a combination of our Low Self (Child Self) and subconscious programming, that together, process and filter our emotions, thinking and life experiences through the lens of our spiritual emotional baggage.
The Province of Lower Emotions
The Lesser Self is also the province of strong baser emotions, embedded beliefs, attitudes and behaviors of our past and past lives. It can be challenging for us to hear the elevated voice and song of our High Self when the Lesser Self is dominate.
Adulthood and The High Self
Ideally, by the time we reach adulthood, we will have chosen to merge with our High Self – to come under Its domain.
As mentioned in previous posts, the High Self embodies all our divine characteristics. It is our connection with the Divine (God) and sometimes loosely referred to as our God-self. It is the illuminated, enlightened level (part) of our being.
Most People Guided by Impulses of Lesser Self
Most people in society are still being guided by the emotions and impulses of the Lesser Self. They exhibit many behaviors that are characteristically associated with one’s childhood. This can be seen when reviewing the news of the day.
There are some who have managed to reach the level of spiritual adolescence, only to be torn between their lesser and higher natures, embroiled in the confusion created by the two. Just like a teenager, their life often exhibits excessive drama.
Multiple Levels of Growth Coexist
It is important to be aware of the multiple levels of our own spiritual growth that coexist together within us right now. This awareness, alone, can help us move past the tendencies of the Low Self.
We can avoid or significantly reduce the anxiety associated with the parts of us that are still functioning from the childhood and adolescence states of our being by requesting the assistance and guidance of the High Self.
Major Step in Spiritual Growth
Asking the High Self for assistance is a major step in one’s spiritual growth.
Higher Guidance and Shifting Our Perspective
As discussed in our Surrendering to Higher Guidance blogpost, the Low Self must willingly relinquish its control to the High Self over and over again until we are firmly connected and living our life from our High Self. Sometimes this can involve a moment-to-moment choice.
If you are wondering how to connect with your High Self, the audio meditation, Shifting Our Perspective, guides you through linking with your High Self and releasing old patterns of the Lesser Self.
We Have Free Will
Through all of this, we have free will. We can also choose to give control back to the Lesser Self and its un-illuminated nature at any time. Of course, the tone and tenor of our life will quickly revert back to its previous discordant patterns.
Transformation — A Principal Purpose of Life
One of the principal purposes of life is the process of transformation. Transformation moves us from living from our lower nature to dwelling from our higher consciousness, High Self and the Divine.
Illumination, Enlightenment – Path of the Masters
As we do our best to live in an ongoing connection and union with our High Self, we can gradually release our discordant emotional baggage and limiting beliefs, which, in time, allow us to reach a state of illumination and enlightenment.
Few choose this path — the path of a Master!
